Product Description

Dark Purple Lilac is a compact reblooming deciduous shrub with a rounded habit and small light green foliage.  Panicles of fragrant deep purple flowers bloom first in mid spring then again from midsummer until frost.  Best flowering with full sun and rich, moist well-drained neutral soils.  Disease resistant.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Low Maintenance.  No serious pests or diseases.  Leaf-roll necrosis may occur.  Late spring frost may damage flower buds and young leaves.  Prune as needed immediately after spring flowering.  Prompt deadheading before seed setting will increase next year’s bloom. 

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Foundational Plantings, Hedges, and Containers.

COMPANION PLANTS:  Giant Hyssop, New Jersey Tea, Joe-Pye Weed
