HOW IT ALL STARTED
Tom's Flower Cart
Tom (DiDominica) Dee began selling Daffodils on the corner of Lincoln and Atlantic Avenues at the age of 16. His flower cart quickly became popular as people drove by on their way to church or passing through to the popular seaside town of Long Beach. His father, Tom DiDominica Sr., supported his son’s love of flowers and helped him purchase land adjacent to their home to begin building his dream.
1955 - 1978
Tom's First Greenhouse & Adele's General Store
In 1955, Tom built his first greenhouse and Dees’ was born. In 1957, Tom married Adele and together they grew the business and a family of eight children. Tom and Adele’s 8 children all grew up working in the Garden Center. Today there are 4 generations of DiDominica’s including 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. When you shop at Dees’, you shop with family as all family members have worked at Dees’ at some point!
With expansions completed in 1971 and 1998 Dees’ has grown to be one of Long Island’s largest full service retail garden centers. In 1978, Adele opened The Dees’ General Store, the first of its kind on Long Island. Adele sold candles, soaps, antiques, gifts and coffee grinds.
1978 - Today
Four Generations of DiDominicas
Today Dees’ Nursery is still proudly owned and operated by 3 of the Dee brothers, Tom Jr, Steve and Joe. The family business has evolved each year and now offers an online store. Keeping with their roots you can still come into Adele’s gift shop for candles and gifts, receive gardening advice from one of the family and purchase a fresh, live Christmas tree from their tree farm.
The Dees’ Nursery and Family proudly supports their town and surrounding community. We would like to thank generations of loyal customers who continue to support our family business. We will continue to grow our business and focus on individual and exceptional service.
THE HOLIDAYS AT DEES

The Holidays at Dees’ are magical and a visit to Dees’ has become a tradition for generations of families. We offer family fun events all year long including a fall festival with a petting zoo, gem mining and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Easter Bunny.
